Goal
Redesign college website to improve overall student applications and engagement with college services.
Outcome
Navigating the college bureaucracy was the greatest challenge with this project. I presented weekly to a committee created by the college solely to discuss the website redesign. The committee included student and faculty staff that ALWAYS had clashing opinions about how the website should look.
Still, we were able to break down the project into concrete phases for research, site-map architecture, layout design, CMS implementation and review/training. The introduction of a new CMS was a separate project headed by the district that we had to also work with.
The client is still using the same website we made for them years ago and it still looks fresh! The project experience was so positive that the district soon requested additional work.
Infrastructure
Presentations were developed in PowerPoint and all coordination with the clients was done over phone/email.
Research was done with SurveyMonkey and Google Analytics.
I was personally responsible for architecting a site-map of over 5,000 pages and wrote scripts to generate them into HTML pages for upload to the CMS.
Designs were created on Photoshop and layouts were developed by the engineering team in the Open Campus CMS using a combination of PHP, CSS and Javascript.
My car at the time was busier than ever driving me too and from the campus for meetings.
